Hi Bob , I had the same problem and have tried every scratches medication on the market with no luck until a friend sent me this recipe . 4 oz. Desitin 3oz. Furacin ointment 1oz. Desinex athlete's foot ointment or powder 1oz. 1/2% or 1% hydrocortisone cream Mix together and put in a jar that seals well and it will last for months in a cool place . My mare is prone to scratches and would get them so bad that I would have to treat her twice a day for sometimes up to a month with commercial ointments . With this recipe they have never lasted more than 10 days and that is treating her once a day . Good Luck and I hope it works as well for you as it did for me .
