[RC] Why do I smell fire.... - sherman

Because they’re burning to the north and south of my location. I sure hope they’re put out quickly. The winds to the south were wicked yesterday during the lightening storm, I jdon’t know about the north, but likely the same. (:<) Kathy

Lightning on Saturday afternoon ignited approximately 20 fires on the west side of the Tahoe National Forest. Fires are in remote inaccessible areas in Placer, Nevada, and Sierra Counties and range in size from .1 acre to 50 acres.

In Placer County, fires are located: north of the North Fork American River; near the Foresthill Divide; along Mosquito Ridge Road, and in the Middle Fork American River canyon. The Foresthill fire on Mosquito Ridge Road is at 50 acres, the Government Springs fire is at 40 acres. 10 fires are confirmed on the Foresthill Ranger District.

In Nevada County, fires are located near Alpha Omega Overlook and Skillman Campground along Highway 20, and in the Bowman Lake area.

In Sierra County, fires are located north of Hwy 49 in the CalIda area and north of Graniteville.

Some of the fires have been contained. Crews worked on the fires all night. Local fire departments, CAL FIRE and Forest Service crews are working aggressively to contain these fires.
