The United States House Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade, and Consumer Protection has scheduled a hearing--"Breeding, Drugs, and Breakdowns: The State of Thoroughbred Horseracing and the Welfare of the Thoroughbred Racehorse"--for June 19 in Washington, D.C.

Interestingly enough this article hit the Post today. It seems that there are a lot more deaths from injuries in TB racing than "officially" reported. This hearing just got more interesting. Congressmen make a living grandstanding standing up for what is "right." After reading this article I'd sure hate to be testifying on this issue.
