[RC] (was: Big Ride/ CONSTRUCTIVE dialogue - rides2far

But what makes you think they are any more correct that you? Just
because they say so - doesn't make it so.

I would be very pleased if anyone gave me any suggestion that might be a
clue to a source of problems. I have looked at people leaning *way* over
to the side before and haven't had the guts to tell them. No telling how
much money they spend trying to figure out what is wrong with their
darned horses/saddles/shoeing, etc. that is going wrong. Why won't I tell
them? Well, one time I actually did break down and tell someone who had
been having problems that they were really leaning towards the end of the
ride and the *immediately* said their saddle was worn out. Moral of the
story. Most people would rather not know.

I went to the APEX clinic as a videographer. I watched dressage lessons.
Those people were paying very good money for this woman's advice. What I
saw time after time was when she made a suggestion they immediately
refuted what she said, or explained it away, and I know now I was guilty
of the same when I took a few lessons. If everybody wants to feel good
and happy, just go around telling each other you look wonderful, that you
agree on everything, and enjoy that warm fuzzy feeling while you make no
progress at all. The next time someone gives me some coaching I'm going
to see if I can just *listen* and not reply at all.

Last night I got to interview two riders who had combined mileage of over
35,000 miles running mostly up front. It was fascinating to listen to
them. I once heard somebody say, "You can tell why you're doing better
than those behind you, but you cannot tell what those ahead of you are
doing better than you". It's true. Unless you want to be told, you're not
going to learn it either.

P.S. I will say this ONE more time, so everyone will have a chance to say
how much they love children...All ANYONE said was that a 90 mile week was
not REQUIRED.

By the way, you ride with your weight over the the right ;-) .

Then why are my horses always lame on the left?
