I don't know much about eventing, other than horses jump really big, solid jumps ... so: what is the "classic" format, as opposed to the current FEI format?

I'm just wondering if eventing has the same issue as talked about here for endurance ... what is practiced at the "local" level and what is "FEI" are rather different beasts.
