State Line - Carla RichardsonIf you're going into California and are spending less than a week there, they may not even look at your papers at the ag inspection stop. That's what happened to me, at least, and it was a good thing, since my Coggins was past the 6 month time limit that California requires... yikes. In Colorado, a negative Coggins report is good for 12 months. In California, you have to have one within the past 6 months.
I have a permanent brand inspection on my horses that I haul. That's my horse's "passport" that's good anywhere in the U.S., as long as I own the horse, it's proof of ownership with their markings shown, color, sex, age, and breed registration number.
