[RC] June 14 OD ride volunteers needed - Mary HowellFor three decades, the Old Dominion Endurance Rides, Inc. has challenged horses and riders to complete ³100 Miles in One Day.² This year¹s ride on June 14, 2008 is being held in a great new location, with basecamp in Orkney Springs, Virginia about 12 miles west of Interstate 81 and Mount Jackson. Three distances are being offered - 25, 55 and 100 mile rides- using scenic trails in nearby George Washington National Forest. More information about this event is online at www.olddominionrides.org Because veterinary checks are spaced along 100 miles of trail, rather than in a central location, a large number of volunteers are needed to successfully host this event. If you can help, please let us know by May 20, 2008 to be included on the e-mail update list. You'll receive free lodging in the bunkhouse at nearby Shrine Mont, including showers and catered meals, or can stay at basecamp. Volunteers may leave Saturday as soon as your assignment is complete.
