"Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi
Wabarakutah dan Selemat Sejahtera

Firstly I am very grateful to Allah s.w.t. for His Grace in allowing  
me the opportunity to pen a few lines in this prestigious Souvenir  
Programme Book for the Melaka Grand Invitational Endurance Ride 2008.

The Melaka Grand Invitational Endurance Ride 2008 is a nobel attempt  
to increase the variety of sporting activities in Melaka and at the  
same time to introduce Melaka as a new destination for local  
equestrian sports which will directly encourage the flow of visitors  
and tourists to the state through the combined channels of tourism  
and sports.

In the past, sporting activities were never held in conjunction with  
tourism related events. However, the State Government now  
acknowledges and recognizes the organization of sports events as an  
effective strategy to encourage and nurture the growth of the local  
tourism industry which will inevitably make Melaka a premier tourist  
destination in Malaysia.

I graciously invite all the participants, guests and spectators of  
this event to grab the opportunity to explore and visit all the  
exciting and interesting destinations in our Historical City  
beginning with the Melaka River Cruise, the Taming Sari Revolving  
Tower, Jonker Walk and many others.

I also place on record my heartfelt Thank You and deep appreciation  
to all the agencies and individuals who have worked together so  
tirelessly to ensure the success of the inaugural Melaka Grand  
Invitational Endurance Ride.

Lastly, I wish all the participants success and good luck in the  
Melaka Grand Invitational Endurance Ride 2008 and may they return  
home with sweet and enduring memories of our Historical City of Melaka.
