Re: [RC] Hillsdale Central Region AKA Sunflower Classic - Chris A

I live right next door and wussed out too! I woke up at  on sat intending to load up horse and head over there.  I heard the wind howling out there, and the cold seeping into the house, and crawled back under the covers!

I just talked to Randy and Joanie Bass who did the timing for the ride. They had raw wintry weather there all weekend. Muddy trails and windy conditions with spitting snow. But in true Endurance fashion, they went on riding.  Susan Keil, the Ride Manager, deserves better weather than this. Last year they got ice stormed out.

There were 22 starters in  the 25 mile ride. One RO pull. Jim Burks finished first. Tonya Bear got BC.

There were 9 starters in the 50 with two pulls. (wouldn't pulse down) Monica Chapman and Laura Marshall tied for first. In a  very rare occurrence, Betsy O'Shea got both the Turtle Award and Best Condition. To finish is to win.

Obviously riders, the vets and management did a great job in the welfare of the horse area under these very difficult conditions.

Hope I got the info accurately.
