Re: [RC] [RC] Toklat weird development - Dawn Carrie

Yes, I get the little balls of hair and wool inside my Toklat pad everytime I wash it.  I have the one with inserts, so knew about the velcro.  After I wash it, I pull it open and remove all the balled up hair balls.  Some of the congregate around the edges, so besure to go fishing around the edges for them.

Weirdest thing and it's something I've never heard anyone on here mention.

I use a Toklat oversized barrel pad. It's several years old with lots of wear. Around the back edges it's gotten very hard, like hair has matted up in it but it's still surface soft and there's no weight on that area so I never worried.

Today I took it out of the dryer and thought I felt some hard areas in the front, possibly under the weight bearing area. It felt like little hard balls. I wondered if I unsewed the edges if I could get my fingers in there and feel the inside. I pulled on the seam and much to my surprise the whole front of the pad was velcro. When I pulled the top and bottom away from each other about two double handfuls (if not more) of *hard* round disks of wool/hair? fell out. It was weird! Picture those little round disks of felt you can buy to put under a chair leg so it won't scratch a floor. The hair had matted up in these hard ovals and they'd built up in there. I'll take a photo to put on my my-endurance.net page when I get time. I hate to think what those felt like under the pad. I wouldn't want one in my shoe! I could not tell they were in there at all when holding the pad. If you have a Toklat check for me. Surely I'm not the only one who can do this trick! No problem getting them out once I knew it was velcro. Can't believe they put the velcro in there so smoothly I never felt it.
