You can get martingales in different styles. Some attach to the breastcollar/plate, some attach to the girth/cinch, and some are free standing (have a loop that goes around the horse's neck). Go to this page and scroll down.

It has running martingales for Western-style riding that attach to the cinch.

okay folks... i'm going to try first with the running martingale.
Can it be attached to the cinch if I dont use the breast collar?
