[RC] Sewing Booties - rides2far

Have any of you sewn your own booties for an Ortho-Flex? I was ready to
buy some but I can't believe the wool ones for OF are double the cost of
the ones for a RP. Why? Is it because they come in more sizes & shapes so
they're not mass produced? I've got the old ones for a pattern and it's
not like it would be the same as sewing a taylored blazer or anything. I
think I could do it.

I've seen people give sources for wool/sheepskin. There's sheepskin with
the hide still on back and then there's the stuff like you get with a
Toklat wool pad....then I've seen really lightweight fleecy sheepskin
looking wool with cloth backing that flattens down to nothing. I would
think the Toklat type would be the trick. Does anybody know where to get
that quality? I can get a Toklat wool pad for something like $89 and they
want $250 for OF booties. That's a heck of a lot for labor and I work
cheap. I made the switch to the pads but Josie is a compulsive pad
adjuster and pretty unbearable to ride with when she's using one.
