[RC] Papaya? - Teresa Williams

Hi, Ridecamp. Have a gelding who has not wintered as well this year as in past years. Not sick, just thinner than usual. Could be slightly poorer hay quality. Could be a change in herd dynamics. Could be other things. He's just thinner than he should be for this time of year and his work load. Appetite is good. Coat, feet, etc, are fine. His training regimen has not changed and his response to training rides is enthusiastic.

I just started adding pulverized papaya to his Ultium and beet pulp, and he loves it. Figure it certainly can't hurt him and could help if he has some mild digestive issues that are contributing to slow weight gain. Noticed that you can purchase papaya juice, too. Are others of you using papaya, juice or pulp, as an additive? Any reports, good or bad. Any advice?

Thanks,
T. Williams
