Sorry for the imprecise language.  I should have added "without doing 
experiments", which is the constraint that Ridecamp is currently under.

Of course, the initial $30K study would produce interesting results that 
would suggest more studies that would keep the team of slaves (aka. PhD 
candidates) busy for at least 4 years at further expense.

Bottom line:  There is no such thing as either a free lunch or cheap 
science.
