Re: [RC] [RC] From Cat to dogs charging - Amy

Some dogs that come out at you and are barking their heads off do so because
they are fearful and they want to scare off the intruder before something
bad happens. This is the problem with fear aggressive dogs, some people
think they are just "protective", but really it's just that they are
unconfident dogs who think it's best to act big and tough. For dogs like
this that you have to pass often, you could even carry treats with you and
throw them to the dog. Pretty soon they will think horses going by is a
really good thing. Don't think this would work on a charging dog with the
intent to attack though.

When I was a kid, we'd run past this one house with two dogs who'd always
come out and chase us, but not for long. Then one day I decided to walk by,
surprise, the dogs didn't come out and chase us. I'm definitely going to
use the turn around and chase the dog thing this year.
