For my daughter's pony, Extracolloidial shock wave theorapy worked wonderfully and was not too expensive comparitively speaking. She and he went on to compete and go to State in 4-H the next 3 years in a row. Now he is so severely foundered that I will be lucky to keep him alive. Beccy in Ut.

My middle horse had 2-3 treatments but then the ultrasound did not seem to
show the original ligament problem (not sure if it was ever there, the
difficulty with ultrasound is that the angle of the image is critical and
very variable), so I can't say if it works.  For my horse, the problem seems
to be a tiny bone chip in a bad location, in the fetlock joint.  However, I
will say with a minor amount of anesthesia, my horse did not mind the
treatment.  The second worst thing about not solving the problem was that it
is very, very expensive.

Anyway, I guess my advice would be to be very sure that the diagnosis is
correct before investing in it.
