Does anyone in the Ridecamp community have experience with the effect
of a permanently flipped (or frozen) palate "on one side" (result of
an infection) as it relates to the performance ability of an
endurance horse?

Is this the horse that has food coming out its nose? I bought a really
nice horse a few years back...just to die for. 15.1 solid, 5 year old
with a great mind, well trained, grandson of Huckeberry Bey & Aladdin if
I recall right. He'd been born at a big stable and for "some reason" had
gone through a registered sale and I got him cheap. Well, I figured out
why. Every time he swallowed water came out his nose. :-P He'd give a
few deep coughs at the beginning of each ride and a few during the ride.
When he ate, bits of grain and slobber came out his nose. I talked to the
vets about him and they thought there was a good chance he'd eventually
get pnuemonia from getting something in his lungs. Sold him to someone
who was willing to spend the money to scope etc. to see if it was a hole
that could be fixed. They found nothing. She sold him to a client who'd
fallen in love with him for her kids. He never did endurance but last I
heard they loved him.
