[RC] [RC] Need input on feeding monster horses - Patti

Figure on at least 2% of their body weight - (if they're TB types, maybe around 1000 lbs, up to 1400 lbs if they're more warmblood or drafty types) 
so at least somewhere between 20-28 lbs of good grass hay/day each for maintenance. Plus an extra 8-10 lbs to compensate for the temperature - plus more if they have little wind protection, are old or get wet.
If they're used to getting only alfalfa, you might want to pick through and use the best of what's there for the "extra".
Access to salt (loose or a white block) and water (watch they're drinking enough, especially if you're changing their basic hay) and they should be good.
