[RC] Feeding hay on the ground - Karen Everhart

I think common sense tells us that the risk of "on the ground" feeding is primarily associated with feeding grain without some protection.  The horses pick up sand/dirt when looking for that last tidbit of "candy".   I think the risk is very low with grass hays but could increase with grain or legume hays as the horses seek the dried leaves or, again, the remaining grains that fall among the grit on the ground.
