[RC] switching feeds, was using Platform Senior - sherman

I think it was the late Tom Ivers that said endurance horses were being starved by giving them senior feeds at rides, that their caloric needs were greater than could be satisfied with the senior feeds, not his exact words. I quit feeding it to my endurance horses after that. I’m not a big “grain or feed” user anyway, but now I give them all the hay they can eat, plus beet pulp, oats (amount changes according to how much work they’ll do that day) and rice bran, and on rides I now carry a small bag of sweet feed, carrots, or apples to give them a little boost as we approach the vet check. Just some food for thought…
