[RC] farriersRID3E - mrsd

t
I have been doing my own work for several years. Took a class from Tony
Gonzales
and was amazed at what he did in about 30 min with an Arab Stallion that
wouldn't take his right lead. He had been shod by about 89% of the farriers In
San Diego.

Was able to do a three day class with Gene Ovicheck and learned a great deal
about balance and break- over. Bought a Finegan Gauge and it really helped me
to understand that the vertical line down the hoof at the front should be
verical to a flat plain at the bottom of the hoof.

Have used the Natural Balance Aluminum shoes for 11- 100 mile rides including 4
Tevis completions and 2 National Champ. 100's. For rocky rides I have been
using
Farriers Pride pads with silicone injected. My horse has been able to do over
3000 miles using this method. Pulled lame after a kick at Tevis(* Pilot
Error)
and spread eagled on new pavement after 75 miles at the Viginia City 100. Plus

some other pulls on Tevis RIDER SICK.. Tied Up Rider Error. Getting so Damned
old that I can't run down the canyons anymore. Horse is still sound & is
resting now W/O shoes..He's 22. & I'm 77 Hope to do another ride or two next
season & we'll have a combined age of 100.
