[RC] Questions on the protest - Michael Maul

In response to:"I'd like to get a question or 2 answered that are
bugging me.. How far into the ride did the rider who
abiused his horse get? Obviously the horse was back
into base camp when it crashed.. Did it get past any
Vet checks? Did he finish? I sure don't think this
horse would have been considered "fit to continue".
I'm assuming this was an LD ride this guy was riding?
It may have been said, but I missed it.

If the guy got into and past a vet check, how come his
friend who was the AERC member and protester, did'nt
tell him to back off, or slow down?"
*************************************
The rider was in the LD part of the ride. The person protesting was in the 50 mile part of the ride. They were not riding together. The episode that cause the protest was after everyone was back in camp after the ride.

The horse crashed out of camp - not in camp so there was no finish. I don't know whether the treatment was prior to the vet check or after the first vet check but I'll ask Nick Warhol (W region director) who was there.

Mike
