Re: [RC] need advice on problems with boarding facility owner - Jackie Causgrove

Average board in my area (Alaska) is approx 400.00 a month and this is outdoors (no stalls) and fed twice a day with a maximum of 15# pounds of hay a day.  Any more than that, you have to pay more.  And this is an area where winter temps are often 40 below.  Some of the places that board don't have a shelter.  The horses are kept in a pen; without any shelter and no blanket etc.  And they are full @ 400.00 a pop.

With all those problems I would WANT to move my horse to a better facility.
Is he not charging enough to make it worth his time and effort to keep the
place up? Maybe if he ups the board $100. per horse he could operate the
facility in a reasonable manner. The average board in my area of Riverside
County Calif. is $275-$375 per mo.
