[RC] LDs, Abuse, Solutions - sherman

I think the idea of a rider passport is better than a horse passport due
to the fact that someone could buy a fit horse and then enter a 50 and
just blow the horse out, right?

I personally wouldn't want mandatory LDs and I'm sure many feel the same
way I do, since my goal was always to do a 100. Sanctioned 50s help me
to prepare for 100s in a way that I cannot do on my own. However 25s and
30s are very doable without assistance from vets, crew, etc. and I
probably did at least 10 of them before I ever entered a 50.

Maybe we should require all 1st timers to read ridecamp archives
regarding abuse and what everyone would like to do to the rider who
abuses their horse (:>)

so many do have).

A mandatory completion of X number of LD, 50, 75, etc rides needs to be
set before one can bump up to the next level. If you want to take a
horse into a 50 or higher, that has not done X number of lower rides (ie
you do your training at home, not at LD rides for a 50) then the rider
needs X number of rides to show they have the experience to train at
home before they can "skip" distances with a new horse.
