[RC] Novice divisions - Steve Shaw

Ride and tie has a Novice division, which changes after a person has done a Championship. There are no restrictions on novices but it is a category for certain awards and prizes. Because of the awards people don't mind calling themselves a novice and this allows others to feel comfortable in offering advice.

In falconry you are an Apprentice for your first two years, with many restrictions. You must have a sponsor who is your mentor and they must co-sign all of your documents sent in to the State and Fed's. You can only have one bird and it must be a passage bird (immature) and must be trapped from the wild. You cannot buy one as an apprentice. Also you are restricted to a red-tail hawk or the Kestrel. You cannot advance to the General, lifetime license unless your sponsor signs off on you and details how many hours per month you two worked together and that you had all of the required equipment and could demonstrate how to keep a bird healthy and in good hunting condition
