RE: [RC] [RC] What's in YOUR mash?? - Ranelle Rubin

Pre-ride:

Soaked and drained shredded beet pulp
PGR-Dynamite Pelleted Grain (very small amounts)
Dynamite Pre-Race Pack (incredible support for the working horse)
DynaPro-Probiotic
DynaSpark-Electrolyte

He gets this mash for 3-4 days before the ride..only about a cup to two cups of the grain though.

My mashes are small and frequent..often at a vet check it will be in the bottom of a bucket of water soaked hay..he eats the hay that tastes like mash, he then gets the mash.

Ride day..same stuff in varying amounts-at away checks no beet pulp, but still lots of water.

I feel like I'm making a quote from the credit card TV
commercial.. "what's in YOUR wallet?" But I do want
to know what folks are putting in their mashes. I
know my preride mash is different than my vet check
mash.. anyone else do different concoctions?

Here's what I feed pre ride, the night before and a
lesser amount before the ride.
Beet Pulp, Purenia Strategy or Endurance 101 (a
buckeye product), electrolytes.. (P&W) some probi, and
some psyllium. I want to make that poop slippery, to
prevent any kind of hard manure, as I've had minor
colics due to minor impactions.. (like the horse
says.. hey it HURTS when I poop... so I won't)

During the ride, I'll use beet pulp, strategy, chopped
dehydrated alfalfa (God -- I love this stuff),
electrolytes, and if I think the horse is gonna be
picky a handful or 2 of sweet feed. (at my barn..
sweet feed is seen as horse candy). <and the beet
pulp has been soaked to within an inch of it's life
and extra water added to the whole mess>

(Literally it's a mess, especially when the horse
reaches over your head all the while happily
slobbering this concoction on your head and hair!)

So what does everyone else use??
