[RC] Complete meeting info and now update too was: Potential Closure of Greensfelder Park (St. Louis, Mo. Area) - Debbie K.

Up Date below, I am not sure what the meeting is for, I simply was
informing people of what I saw on Ridecamp...

For all of you near St. Louis, or those that ride in
Greensfelder Equestrian Park in south St. Louis
County, we need your support.
This park was donated for the purpose of being one of
the largest equestrian parks in many states.

A few days ago, a special meeting was announced to
hear the public's opinion on closing the park to
horses.
This would effectively eliminate the major riding area
for thousands of riders.
This park is set up for equestrian camping, and has
many tie stalls as well as a wash area and round pen
near the full hookup campground.

PLEASE consider attending the public meeting this coming

THE MEETING IS 9:30 AM
Thursday, October 18th
AT MUCKERMAN SHELTER in Greensfelder Park

Go left on Hencken Rd, down about 100 ft. on your left.
and let your voice be heard.

If you need directions,
please feel free to contact Lucie Hess <appalucie@xxxxxxxxx privately.

To allow a site dedicated to and donated specifically
for horses be taken away is a travesty at best.

UPDATE just in

Here's a post from the CTR list -- concerning the park closure. It's GOOD news.
Carla Richardson
Colorado

First, I love Greensfelder Park. Second, I just hung up with Kent
Theiling (County Park Manager) and he said THERE IS NO INTENTION TO
CLOSE THE PARK
FOR HORSES. Kent informed me they are only closing a portion of the trail
for trail improvements. Kent told me the park was donated for the purpose and
use by horse enthusiasts. Kent asked me to send out this posting to inform
everyone the park will remain open to horses forever. Kent is
mystified where thi
s incorrect news came from and wants the correct information spread.

If anyone has any questions, do not hesitate to contact me. Again, the
park is NOT closing to horses. Only a portion of one trail for improvements.
By the way, the meeting is on Thursday morning and it is with the park
director to talk about what needs to be done to the washed out trail area in
question. I hope this helps.

Thank you to everyone for rallying together on a cause. It is so nice
to know that we (horse community) will stand up for our rights if the need
arises!

Sincerely,

Karla (for the cause) M. Ure
St. Louis
