I altered mine to use cotton leads. I will NOT tie
with anything except cotton leads. My alteration is not the most simple, but for
me, worth the extra work. Here is a link to photos:
I do like the Velcro part of the bungee ties that
come with the Hi-Ties, so I used that part in my new tie, but just having a
safety release snap, up high, not at the horses head, is a good preventative in
case you needed to get them off the tie in a hurry. If you want more details on
what I did, send me a note. I do NATRC, and have never lost a single point for
this set up, and have tied for weeks at a time on the long, cross country XP
endurance rides.
