Contact lens saline solution

- Costco has 3 paks priced reasonably (reasonable enough that you aren't
tempted to keep it too long after opening)
- they're good sized (16oz bottles) - easy to carry in first aid kit or
saddle pack
- safe for animals and humans
- you can "flow" it out with a gentle squeeze or squeeze harder for a
fairly forceful stream to loosen debris - optimum wound cleansing is
4-14psi, "For example, a 60cc catheter tip syringe delivers 4.2 psi, a 35cc
syringe with a 19 guage needle delivers 8.0 psi, and a Water Pik at its
highest setting delivers >50 psi."

- good for wound/eye injury cleansing longer than the normal saline used
for IV's as it has a preservative which IV fluid doesn't (the Ciba brand I
have right now also has an antimicrobial added)
- I've used it for up to 30 days after opening if kept at room temperature
(not in my hot tack room) or refrigerated (I warm it to in a hot water bath
if using on eyes - to wrist temp like a baby's bottle)
