Thanks Ranelle.  I will check into it.

Our barn is having a Matt Sheridan clinic soon, and I'm hoping that I  
might pick his brain for bit styles, as well.  In the meantime, I'm  
going to try a hackamore - at least for training rides - so his mouth  
can heal up.

I sure hope I can cure his race brain -- it boggles the mind that one  
horse can go from working on voice commands to listening to  
absolutely NOTHING but brute force on ride day .... sigh.
