[RC] Endurance, the friendly sport - Laura Marshall

Dear All,
I'd like to welcome all breeds of equines and all breeds of horse
people to come join us on some rides in the Central region. We're
pretty friendly, we have some amazing vets and offer a diversity of
trails from the challenges of the Missouri Ozarks (gorgeous ride in
St. Louis Oct. 20th) to a very doable accurate well marked 100's in
Texas.
My experience in every group for every type of activity is a
consistent 2-5% jerk turn-out, always leaving a strong impression and
fun to talk about afterwards, 95% of the well intended, 1% I'll
recognize later without their horse or helmet, and very few I'll ever
see during work days to put together or clean-up after an event.
The article on Ja Allen was just a simple attention getting story on
a colorful (or in his case more Black and white, white shirt, black
jeans on a gorgeous B&W mare for most of the ride...they had style
going on!) participant in the GSFTR who did a good job with his horses
which he should be proud of. Clearly, it struck some nerves! I don't
really think it represents what most of us experience in the endurance
community. I ride in endurance more than CTRs for a number of reasons,
one of which is that I found the endurance crowd in my area to be some
of the nicest people I could meet.
                                              Happy Trails, Laura
