RE: [RC] Horse Health - Chris Paus

THIS IS A RED LETTER EMERGENCY. GET TO THE VET ASAP. I had a mare this happened to. It's extremely rare in horses. It took some heroics on the vet's part to save my mare's life.

My daughter yesterday found one of her Arabian mares with a prolapsed rectum.

We live in a rural area and the local Vets said not a lot can be done- she is in contact today with a Univ. Hospital

Can anyone with this situation give us some ideas? The mare is 9 yrs old and has a 5 month foal with her at this time.  She seems very alert and not ill, we have put her on antibiotics.

Thank you

Wisconsin
