Heidi Am I the only one who watched "Run Appaloosa Run" a zillion times? Isn't this the same race? Apparently Disney changed it like usual...no heats, the hill & swim were at the end...but it definitely glorified that race. So Heidi had to live down that Disney movie 30 years ago...and I'm still explaining to people who watched Hidalgo why I don't go get a heavily muscled QH type Mustang so I could *really* kick butt. I really *did* love Run Appaloosa Run though...the horse acted like a horse and it had a great Australian Shepherd in it. They showed it at my elementary school and the admission was one canned good. If I could have emptied my mama's cupboard I'd have watched it that many times if they'd kept showing it. My first horse was an Appaloosa and my first dog I bought of my own was an Australian Shepherd...probably because of that one 30 minute movie. I was so happy to get my own copy when VCR's & the Disney Channel made it possible. All that said, it's a shame the race is a real life thing and not something put together with trick photography & lots of safety measures.
