RE: [RC] [RC] Zorse - Ranelle Rubin

Personally, I think that Zorse is gorgeous from what you can see in the pic..no idea about her conformation, but you sure couldn't fly "under the radar" on that Zorse!

Can you imagine unloading her at Tevis or OD??? Holy cow, the photographers would have a field day.

I wanted to post an reply to the questions about Zorses.

They have gotten a bad reputation by people using horse training
techniques and trying to force them into things. With todays wide range
of good systematic training systems Zorses are getting a lot better deal.

I got this mare as a mostly unhandled 2 year old. She was the easiest
equine I have ever started, (I've been a professional trainer for the last
10 years). I spent the first two weeks just winning her trust, then the
second two weeks easily starting her under saddle. I used Pat Parellis
training system along with Brad Camerons mule training techniques. She
never bucked, bolted, or resisted. As soon as she was going reliably
under saddle--three sessions in the round pen---we hit the trails. And
have never looked back.

I have not entered her in any AERC rides. We just moved here last fall.
Where we lived before we did CMO races. Which are similar to endurance
rides but with the addition of compasses and targets to find. She did
very well, amazing everyone in camp by recovering faster than the Arabs in
our group.

My husband and I take turns riding her and riding our 7/8 Arab. She is as
good for my husband as she is for me. And I always know he is safe if he
is on her, because she is so smart and trail savvy. My 9 year old son has
finished out a few rides double on her, when mishaps befell his pony.

There are other great riding Zorses out there. She is not an anomaly.
People just don't usually sell them. If you can handle mules and donkeys,
or any sensitive highly intelligent horse, you can handle and ride a
Zorse.

Thanks, Rachel
