Subject: bananas

A while back someone posted with a question about bananas and ulcers. I was at a seminar with an equine vet a few month's back about ulcers and he said that the stuff on the inside of the skin of very (black and sqishy) bananas is a good ulcer preventative. He said to scrape the inside of the skins of 5 or 6 bananas into a syringe and sqirt it in your horses mouth 15 minutes before feeding or competing or floating (trailering).
Of course you could just do as we do which is feed lots of gooey overripe bananas to your horses. We grow them and our horses absolutely love them skin and all. Just don't ever feed green bananas as they will cause colic.
Happy riding Megan in Australia
