Re: [RC] [RC] Making a difference (was: AERC joining, etc.) - k s swigart

From: "Ranelle Rubin" <raneller@xxxxxxx>

Thanks Barbara. You obviously read it in the light
I meant it. Love it, leave it, or change it, but don't
complain about something you are unwilling
to be a part of changing.

But complaining IS a deliberate action with the intent to make a change.
The very fact that somebody complains is evidence that they are WILLING
"to be a part of changing" it...at least trying to.

It is people who don't complain about things they don't like who are
unwilling to be a part of changing.

You may not agree with people's complaints and you may find their
complaints irritating or irrational, but one thing you cannot acuse
complainers of is an unwillingness to try to change things. Trying to
change things that you don't have complete control over yourself is what
complaining is for.

If it comes along with ideas for improvement as well, so much the
better, but the person doing the complaining doesn't HAVE to be the
person who comes up with a better idea. If there IS going to be change,
SOMEBODY will have to come up with an idea for improvement; however, if
nobody complains, then nobody will even know that improvement may be
necessary.

p.s. Jim HAS come up with what he considers to be ideas for
improvement. Much of the debate is whether these are good ideas.
