Re: [RC] GSFHR - Beth Walker

I second the thanks to you, Mike. You have always been very helpful in answering my questions, or pointing me to someone who can help me.

As to the GSFHR accident, the only item I found was on this link:

http://www.mcphersonsentinel.com/articles/2007/09/11/news/news3.txt

The details that were reported in the article were:
-- occurred at 1:58 pm on Tuesday, at 27th Ave and Cimarron Road seven miles south of Canton (Kansas, I presume)

-- Vehicle struck two horses (both riders are women). Both riders were airlifted to Wichita. The driver was transported to McPherson Memorial Hospital.

-- Eyewitnesses reported the women riders apparently went past the finish line and into the path of the vehicle.

No word on the horses, but I am assuming it isn't good.

Thank you Mike for being about the only AERC director to step up to the plate and give us some bit of information on the Santa Fe Ride. I am frankly appalled that we are not getting more coverage on this All American event. So much press on the FEI ride and nothing at all coming on RC about the GSFHR. Why is that?

I am most interested in this ride and I know of many others that are wanting to know positions, pulls, daily finishes, just ANYTHING about it and here we sit and can't get one darn tidbit about it.

Now we have a horrific accident and no details. I have said it many times and I will take this opportunity to formally say it to all. I think Mike Maul is about the best representative we AERC members could have. He always goes out of his way to help his members that elected him to his position. Making late night phone calls to directly talk over concerns with the members, doing little things like keeping us somewhat informed on this ride, so many things that an elected official should be doing after all.

Thank you Mike. It is refreshing to see a Official doing his job and doing it so well. Please! find out what is going on with this race in as many ways as you can and let us know since nobody else will. I am wondering if the riders were hit by a car on the highway or what?? This is so aggravating to not know. It is annoying to not know anything about this ride. BTW, what State are they in today?

Subject: [RC] Tragic accident on day 7 of the GSFHR

The ride steward at the GSFHR just reported that 2 riders on day 7 were involved in a very serious collision with a vehicle during the ride.

The two riders - Teresa Wilcox and Sandy Oleson - have been
airlifted to a hospital.

When I have more details - I'll post them to the lists.

Mike
