[RC] Open European Championship 2007 : Steph's Wrap up - rides2far

Nik,
Kanavy's Navy notwithstanding, there is no individual or consortium
in US> endurance that has the resources to put into the sort of
research
and> application thereof into food, drugs and exercise that the Maktoum

family or> the Nahyan family have. The quantities of horses in their
stables

I'm not so sure that's the whole reason. I think that Americans have a
habit of asking ourselves every once in a while..."Why am I doing
this..is this fun...if not, then why am I doing this?" The Rojeks have
the *resources* and the skills, but my personal opinion is their goals
are far more lofty. They take horses that they often bred themselves,
bring them along themselves, compete on them for a *long time* at the
highest levels and I would guess that is satisfying to them. I would hate
to see someone who had it that "together" switch over to buying stables
full of horses, having armies of riders condition them on the ragged
edge, watch 50% of them fall off the "ragged edge" and then show up at
championship rides and "Win for the honor of the good ol USA". Which is
more honorable is all in the eyes of the beholder. Of course when say
they have the resources I'm comparing them to the Kanaveys, not the
sheiks.

Angie
