[RC] "Stump the vet-"-update- North Ga. disease? - L gin

Ok, 2nd horse , now 3rd horse is showing symptoms. Got the number of a good horse vet in neighboring county-- they called me back and this is what they said. They are seeing alot of this--they don't know what it is.Asked me the usual quesitons. Have they had contact with other horses, no.Been anywhere, not since we moved, then not either.Normal shots--W.Nile, Eee.WE,Tet.,rabies. On dry lot with grass hay 24/7, lthe last 2 1/2 weeks cause they had stripped the pasture.99% free of plant life. A few pine needles and a few oak leaves on ground. 150 yr. Drought. Very few insects compared to earlier this year.I practice fly control.
They have found this on pastured horses, thought maybe plant, but then it showed up in stalled horses too.
Stocking up in 1-4 legs, endema that may spread. Lethargy. No fever. Blood tests come back normal. Cold hosing with pressure seems to help 2X a day and keeping them moving. They don't recommend bute or antibiotics--say to just keep and eye out for fever or other symptoms.Seems to run a course, then go way, but has returned insome cases.

Mysterious North Ga. disease/ syndrome---------------
