[RC] [RC] Bryce Ride - Karen

Has anyone heard anything about the Bryce ride?

I couldn't go this year and missed seeing Karen's great photos that she usually posts.

Hi Peggy - sorry you couldn't make it this year. We had the best weather ever.  This ride is so spectacular and the scenery absolutely stunning!  I am in awe of the variety of scenery that is here.  I am uploading a rather large album now that is taking a lot longer than expected.  I'll post the link when it finishes sometime tomorrow.

In the meantime, here is a really inspiring video of Laurie Ledbetter mounting her horse Kelsey at lunch one of the days.  Most of you will think "so what", but go read the information on why this is such an incredible feat.  Laurie was/is is a quadriplegic and to even get on a horse is an amazing feat, let alone getting on and riding 50 miles.  She rode three days, days 1-3-5 on her incredible mare Kelsey--who has been taught to lie down.  Laurie is also one of the most polite and considerate riders I've ever had the pleasure of encountering.  She refused to leave until I remounted after getting a gate and is completely aware of everything going on around her.

We had 10 riders who rode all 5 days on the same horses.  11 riders rode all five days on more than one horse. Crockett Dumas was first overall and took overall BC as well.

I rode Chief four days and Tigger one.  Tigger would have gone a second day but got a minor rope burn the night after I rode him at 3 a.m. (he's healing well) so didn't get to go on day 4, so Chief did days 1, 3, 4, 5 and today got to help unmark trail.  The trail is all completely unmarked and we are heading over to the camp for Virgin Rim next.  It will be point to point on one day and one single loop ride on the other day.  The trail this year will include the trail that was on the ROC back a few years ago.  Try not to miss it, it is also as stunningly beautiful as Bryce!
