That is exactly what I am buying it for..their forage hay. My horses will 
get it as half their diet. The other half will be:

1/4 grain hay mix (beardless barley/beardless wheat/red oat)
1/4 Orchard Grass Alfafla mix

That means they effectively get 6 different kinds of hay mix..with feeding 
one flake of the Teff and one flake of one of the other mixes at each 
feeding.....works for me.

According to Susan G., this is "perfect"
