When I was 12 years old and in junior high, I wrote an essay on euthanasia for humans. I was in favor of it then and I still am. I think it's tragic for people to have to suffer as many do on their way to a painful death. I also realize there is no way to make the judgment as to who should be euthanized and when, and the possibilities of abuse for criminal and selfish reasons are abundant. So I guess we'll just have to muddle along the best we can.

At least a part of why I chose to become a veterinarian instead of a human physician is
because I can do for a suffering animal what we won't do for a suffering
fellow human being.
