[RC] Additional Info from the GSFHR - Michael Maul

I just talked with Roger Taylor who is assisting on the NM portion of the ride.

There were 48 riders starting this morning and today's ride is still in progress. There were a few pulls for lameness at the first vet check but Roger says that everything was going very well so far.

There are 6 vets today for the 48 riders and while there is no official farrier - there are a number of riders who either are farriers or have experience who are helping out if there are problems.

In response to Roger Rittenhouse's post about qualifications - all riders had to complete a 50 mile AERC ride or the foreign equivalent under an organization that AERC recognizes such as AERA.

Roger Taylor knows many of the people in the ride and says everyone is doing well so far. The riders needed to be trailered to the start this morning but everyone handled that well.

Roger says water has been provided at a lot of places on the trial. Tom Parker is the head vet for the NM portion of the ride. Tom is an endurance rider as well.

More after I talk with Roger Taylor this evening.

Mike
