Hello Diane,

Sad indeed for the horses because these riders are basically just 
jockeys.They might own the horse but they "ride'm like they stole'm" 
on race day. I don't think they have any real bond with their horse, 
it's just a muscle and blood motorcycle to them. They seem to be able 
to push their horses beyond all reasonable limits to get the win 
which is all that counts in those flat-manicured-trail Grand Prix 
style pseudo-endurance races. Besides, if you knew the horse's names 
then you might cause a ruckus if one of those names shows up at the 
Melinsung Ranch, Malaysia, http://visitmalaysiatourism.blogspot.com/ 
next year after being "retired" by their jockey-rider.
