Re: [RC] trailer ventilation - Beth Walker

I have an old Logan, and in summer I take the top rear doors off completely so that it is open in the back. Even then, I've had my fellow get sweaty on a really hot day. The doors go back on in the winter when it gets chilly. I don't have any experience with roof insulation. One thought -- in summer, a lot of heat comes up from the road, which is why having a trailer with wood flooring is considered to be better than a metal floor, like some of the all- aluminum trailers have.

You are going in the right direction getting rid of the small windows on
the butt side of the horse. The biggest problem I am having with my
Sundowner is that it is getting wicked hot in their. I have an older model
with an escape door that doesn't have a drop down window and even though
the other stall does, and I have the small screened window open, and the
top ventilation thingy open it is hot. I have thought about cutting the
screens off the small window to try and increase the draft.

Let us know if you decide to do the insulation and how it works. I am
wondering if even doing a "home job" for insulation would be worth it.
Anything you can do to increase air circulation will be a good thing.

My goal in life is to be as good of a person my dog already thinks I am.
