PS: Here in Alberta, we have the option of hauling our own horses to "The 
Plant" if desired, and they are put down that day, avoiding the stresses of 
being put through the auction ring and/or hauled to the kill buyer's feedlot 
and then shipped from there in a tightly-grouped trailer with other equally 
frightened horses. This is the part that most bothers me, is the effects of 
that final, arduous journey on horses that, in many cases, are already 
compromised.
