RE: [RC] [RC] beginner questions - Ranelle Rubin

Robert,
First, I want to be the first to congratulate you on being here, asking, and most importantly being willing to listen. Folks on here are for the most part more than willing to help!

P&R checks are typically about 15 miles apart (more or less depending on terrain/temperature/vets accessability) Criteria on a 50 is typically 60 BPM

One of the things I highly recommend in terms of tights is padded tights. I personally love the Carrosel tights, but they will not longer be available. Alot of folks swear by Saddle Bums. Evelyn will make you custom ones! Her link is: http://www.justforhorsin-round.com/index.htm

If you Google endurance riding tights you will get a wide variety of links. Personally, I prefer no patches on my tights as they tend to grip the saddle, and then the movement is against my skin. I would rather wear out the inside of the tights than the inside of my knees.

For rubbing, try Body Glide or Monostat Powder Gel

Keep asking..there are no dumb questions, only dummies who don't listen after they ask~!

I am aiming for my first 50 in November at the Missouri Final Fling (anybody experienced willing to have a newbie tag-along). How far apart are the P/R stops usually placed and what are the goal rates?

Also, the jeans got to go. I've been trying to just man up and ride with them but I have decided that the sissy pants are looking better. I can't tell if they are men's, women's or unisex. I sent an inquiry to sportack but haven't heard back yet (it has only been a couple hours, though). Anyone have any specific suggestions?
