[RC] Large grain meals - sherman

Cindy,

The complete feeds are not considered grain. Grain would be oats, barley, COB (corn oats barley), BCM (barley corn molasses), wheat…any whole grain. If you look at the ingredients on the complete feeds, you’ll see that they usually have beet pulp, processed alfalfa or other type of hay, bran of some sort, along with several other ingredients.

If the horse looks good, and doesn’t need or want the feed, I probably wouldn’t feed it, but maybe the vet thinks the horse is in need of the vitamins or minerals that are in the senior feed? Or maybe the horse’s muscle tone isn’t as good as it should be? Is it being ridden regularly?

Just some thoughts…
