[RC] EasyUp Buckles - Dream Weaver

Hi Lysane:  There is a trick to the up buckles.  First, if you have some WD-40, spray that in the buckle to see if that helps it, and/or clean it out in case there happens to be mud and debris in there.  Here is a link to a before and after shot of one of my boots with the EasyUp buckle.  I just kept using it with the mud on it.  When I want my boots clean I'll throw them in a bucket to soak then hose down.  If that isn't enough, the top rack of the dishwasher also works well.

Here is the trick:  When adjusting for tightness, use one hand to push the side of the boot in creating a bit of slack as you fold the buckle up.  This will allow you to get the cable through at least one additional groove.  Other advice would be to walk or ride the horse around for a couple of minutes and then check the tightness again, as things will loosen up a bit if everything is new.  If that happens, pop the buckle down and then adjust to one or more tighter settings.  (more important advice:  don't put these boots and buckles on for the first time before an endurance ride and start off without at least first checking the buckle tightness after a short period of time)  Applying pressure on the side of the boot gives just enough slack to get a really snug fit.  Sometimes I'll use my thumb and rest of my fingers at the same time from the top down to squeeze both sides of the boot at once, while folding the buckle up with the other hand.

If after you try those things and still have trouble with your buckle, let me know.
