Re: [RC] Stagg - Last Chance to Deadwood (from Stagg) - Stagg_Newman

Pace slows way down from Last Chance to Deadwood for everybody.
It;s only about 4 to 5 miles but there is a 2000 foot canyon in the middle.

The grade is 18% I believe.

So I and many other of the riders were on foot for most of the 2000
down into the canyon.  And then unless you are Tom Johnson
(who has won the Western States 100 mile run 4 times),
you are at a walk on the horse most of the way out of the canyon.

No big deal, just curious. Kinda figured there was a problem with those
numbers but was curious if your pace had changed on that leg.
